Fleeting Moments in Los Angeles

I went to L.A. last week to surprise my family. It's been about four months since I last visited them. I had to go because it's been especially tough lately being in New Orleans. I haven't quite found my footing here and to be honest, I don't think I ever will. People keep telling me that I need to give New Orleans a chance and I think I have. It's going to be two years this summer of me living here. New Orleans is a wonderful place but it's not my forever home. It's like dating. There are tons of sweet people out there but it doesn't mean they're all a perfect match. You know when the right one's for you. And I know for certain New Orleans is not the one for me. I need my family. I need my friends. And I need my Asian food. You feel me? And they're all in Los Angeles. So I've decided to move back to L.A. next summer. That'll give me about a year and a half here. I just need a date to keep me sane. You're all probably wondering — what about the heartmate? I'm hoping he'll move with me. I've been planting plenty of sunny L.A. seeds so we'll see!

But boy, this trip was something else. I was not expecting to work my ass off on my mama's home. Come back tomorrow to find out what I'm talking about!

I never get tired of being greeted by this colorful hallway at LAX. It was created by artist Charles D. Kratka in 1961
