Wanderlust in Austin

Old Brand New in Austin

A few weeks ago, my heartmate and I drove to Austin with the pups for spring break. We've never been to Austin before and heard only great things about the city, especially how dog-friendly it is. It's about a seven hour drive from New Orleans so it wasn't too terrible. We stayed at Hotel San Jose in the South Congress neighborhood. This strip has pretty much everything you'll want — delicious food, shopping, tacos, ice cream and even a thrift store. It's definitely a hip and happening area.

How insanely adorable is this? The staff at Hotel San Jose made the pups feel super welcomed. Luigi and Sterling got a little hello card, plus their own dog beds and bags full of treats. They really deserved it after being cooped up in a car for so many hours.

The outdoor spaces at Hotel San Jose is very green and lush. It's not a big place so it feels like you're in this quaint and quiet oasis. I pretty much lounged all day in their beautiful serape kimono which I need in my life!

The Great Outdoors
Of course, one of the first places we hit up was a plant store because the heartmate is addicted to plants and gardening.

East Austin Succulents has an impressive inventory of succulents all reasonably priced. We adopted a euphorbia.

Haha...Willie for president! Not sure if we'll ever get anything accomplished but good one!
