One Room Challenge Week Six • Office Reveal

It’s One Room Challenge reveal day! Welcome to my new office! This was surprisingly harder and a little more stressful to pull together than our last few challenges we’ve done and we didn’t even have to gut anything! Anywho, come have a seat and tell me all your deepest, darkest, sexiest secrets. Did I fail to mention that I’m a certified therapist now? Yeah, it’s my new side hustle. Okrrr! I kid. But seriously, take a seat and let me give you a tour. Let me jog your memory a bit and show you how our room looked before. Super plain and boring. I hated that mirror sliding closet so we ripped it out to put in my new floating desk.

And bam! Verbena already beat me to napping on the sofa sleeper. Can I just say how obsessed I am about this antique Chinese rug from Overstock. Yeah, you heard that right. I just recently discovered it and they have so many amazing antique rugs! I’ve been lusting for one for the longest time and I’m so happy I found this one. I love the color. The rusty orange border with the gold center and pretty floral and peacock imagery. For this space, I wanted to channel my Asian roots. I’m serving you princess of China, Thai, Vietnam, Philippines chic realness. I just got back from Bangkok so I sprinkled some of my BKK finds up in here, like the hand-carved elephant, framed textile, vintage framed photos of the beloved Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit.

Here’s a view of my desk situation. It was custom made from my friend at Alder & Oil. And I decided to go with a traditional palm wallpaper from Milton & King at the last hour. It was my first time installing traditional instead of removable and I’m gonna be real with y’all. It took me and my friend three days to complete it. The process was kind of tedious for me so next time, I’m hiring someone. They are pricey though. I got a few quotes and it was around $1000 which is why I decided to do it myself. Or I’ll probably just stick with removable wallpaper which would’ve been way easier. But I do love this pattern. It’s actually really subtle and calming wallpaper and doesn’t feel busy at all for an office. It completely transformed the space and added a layer of richness and texture. It’s totally giving me “A Painted Veil” vibes. Ha!

Plug-in sconces are so underrated! They’re from Mitzi and they have some of the best plug-in sconce designs around. Since we have a sofa sleeper here, I decided to hang them lower. What do you guys think? Should I go higher? Hudson Valley Lighting has some of the best.

And that’s a wrap! Another fun One Room Challenge in the books. Sweet thanks to Linda for organizing all of this. And big thanks to all the sponsors for helping me bring it all together. Now go check out all transformations from the other featured designers. Hommeboys really knocked it out of the effing park this season.
