NOLA Home Progress • Front Porch Railing
The Friday before Labor Day, I decided to tackle our front porch railing. My friends were visiting and I wanted the outside of our home to look finished. I went to Lowes and bought a gallon of Valspar Dove White Duramax satin thinking it was going to take me no more than three hours. BOY WAS I WRONG. It wasn't a terribly hot day but it was still very humid. After painting just one banister, I had to dart back in the house to cool off. I managed to paint about 10 banisters, which took me almost an hour, then I realized I needed some serious professional help. I flipped through craigslist and found an awesome painter who came knocking in 15 minutes and finished it in about three hours with a paint sprayer. Paint sprayers are amazing! And we ended up using almost five gallons of paint. And yay! It looks so good now. Check out the before photo below taken in January. We've added more plants in the front. Next project, the siding!
