New Year, New Paint with Home Depot’s ProjectColor™ App.

Sponsored by The Home Depot

Not that I ever need an excuse to change things up around here, but recently I’d been trying to figure out the latest way to update our dining room — basically, our boring white walls just weren’t doing anything for me. And as someone who’s endlessly inspired by color, I didn’t have to look far for inspiration actually. PPG Color of the Year for 2020 is Chinese Porcelain, which is a beautiful blend of cobalt and inky blue without being too dark.

I know choosing the right paint color can be overwhelming and even the painting process can be tedious. But I’m here to empower y’all to have fun with color and make some bold moves in your spaces for the new year. And we are excited to partner with The Home Depot to show you that this whole painting process can be super simple from beginning to end.

Did y’all know that Home Depot has online options to help you with everything from perusing curated palettes to purchasing your paint? Plus there are a ton of tips and tutorials to help with all the other steps. And here is my favorite thing, when you download the ProjectColor™ app, you can even preview how the color will look in your space — and believe me, that’s a total game-changer. It’s amazing!

Using the app, I quickly honed in on PPG’s Chinese Porcelain. The color was inspired as a reaction to our tech-heavy living, to offer a sense of calm and familiarity as well as create a sense of connection. And honestly, who doesn’t need those vibes going into 2020? Am I right?

AFTER

The other thing that spoke to me about the color was that it’s both traditional and bold. As soon as I used my ProjectColor™ app to give me a preview, I knew it was a winner. It offers a grounded and cozy feeling that makes our dining room a place you gravitate toward. It also feels really rich and luxurious, too! And while it still gives a bold payoff, it’s surprisingly versatile with the rest of our stuff. Our rug and artworks go seamlessly in the freshly painted space — but even if I decide to switch things up, the color is neutral enough to work with whatever I drag home from the flea market next. And if I’m honest, knowing myself, eventually I’ll want to try a new color, and when that happens, at least I know that The Home Depot’s digital tools will make it a stress-free project from start to finish.
