THRIFTY THURSDAY • VINTAGE YELLOW CEILING LIGHT
There are some thrift stores like Goodwill where everything is awesomely organized by color and even by materials, but most thrift stores are hoarders central where you really have to dig and scan with eagle eye the dense piles of junk. That's how I spotted this vintage yellow ceiling light crushed under chairs, boxes, and decades of dust. I asked the thrift store owner who had a Fu Manchu 'stache to get it for me because it wasn't safe to fish it out myself.
I was a little hesitant about getting it at first because this is not what I had in mind for any of the rooms. But when you're decorating on a budget, you know, beggars can't be choosers. Besides, I couldn't say no that yummy yolky color. It needs a little makeover. Probably a touch of gold paint. I get very excited about lighting so I installed it immediately when I got home, and I wanted to test it out. Surprisingly, the bulbs that came with it they still works! It reminds me a little of the Verner Panton Flowerpot lamp which I love. I don't think it's vibing in the jungalow room but it's the only room that's photographable right now. Here's what this room looked like before. Sterling likes the new light, I think.
