ADVENTURES IN TAIWAN
Boy, was that a quick trip or what? I was in and out of Taiwan in 48 hours. I reunited with my three awesomest friends. We ate delicious food and laughed hysterically. I stayed in two cities: Tainan which is in the southern part of Taiwan, and Taipei in the north. Thank goodness for the high speed rail, it only took about 1hr20mins to get from one place to the other.
The food in Taiwan is scrumptious and cheap. Tons of great street food. I would fly here just for the food itself because I tasted some of the BEST I've ever had in my life. I seriously died and gone to heaven, not once, but twice. The first time was at a Japanese restaurant in Tainan called Japanese Dishes where they had no menus. They brought out their specials of the day in a ten course meal with the finest, freshest sashimi, eel, and cod liver. Hands down, the best sushi I've ever had. Wow, I'm still salivating over it. The second time I died and gone to heaven was in Taipei, where my friends and I discovered this i-baked cookies ice cream shop while roaming around the night market. I ordered the cranberry oatmeal cookie with mint chocolate chip ice cream. Yum, I-DIED! It reminded of our very own, Diddy Riese near UCLA. Let me just say that I also LIVE for ice cream sandwiches. I eat them for breakfast.
Let's see, what else did I do? I stopped by the Longshan temple to pray for the coming year. Shopped at some weird stores with fierce bird heads on mannequins. As you can see, Taipei is also very accomodating, just check out that breastfeeding sign in the train station. Awesome right?! Another highlight from this trip was when we jumped into a cab and was greeted by the driver and a bird—a live bird! We asked the driver about it and he said it flew into his cab one day and never left. It now accompanies him wherever he drives. What an amazing story.
That's all. Hope everyone enjoyed the little holiday break.
