MEET ME IN MONTAUK
Ten years ago, I saw the beautiful film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. That's when I first learned about Montauk when Clementine whispers to Joel "Meet me in Montauk." It's my favorite film, so when I was asked to meet there for a date, I thought it was kinda romantic. Montauk's at the tip of Long Island and only takes a little over three hours to get to from New York City by train (LIRR) or bus (Hampton Jitney). You probably think I'm a little nuts for traveling so far for a date, and I totally agree with you. I wanna say I'm just a little crazy, mostly adventurous. So hear me out.
I'm ready to meet my next heartmate and start a family. Yes, I have baby fever! I talk a lot about creative courage at The Creative Residency, that it's never too late to get your shit together. Well, that also applies to dating and life in general. It's not too late to find that special someone. And in order to find your heartmate, you need to be comfortable with putting yourself out there and have the courage to meet awesome people, because they do exist. I'm not telling you that you have to go three hours out of your way to meet someone, but sometimes, you have to go that extra mile to chase after that special someone. Go with your gut feeling and take a chance. And my gut feeling was telling me to hop on the train to Montauk. What was supposed to be an overnight stay turned out to be five amazing and epic nights with him and his friends. Montauk is beautiful. Now, let's see if this will blossom into something amazing or if this was just a sweet, summer thing. And I'm OK either way. Life is full of wonderful surprises so embrace them when you find them.
