Holiday Entertaining with Fab
About five months ago, I started blasting Christmas songs at home and my heartmate was like, WTF and gave me side eyes. And I remember saying, "it's pretty much gonna be Christmas in a month!" And here we are! With Thanksgiving happening this week and Christmas less than a month away, we are ready to partaaay! We're so excited to work with Fab again to show you how we're doing our holiday entertaining this year.
This is also the first time we're revealing our dining room! We decided to switch up the place so we turned this sun room into a place for eating and sipping instead of tv watching. My holiday style is more on the subtle side. Here, we're going for an earthy, modern festive vibe. We're balancing warm tones like wood and brass with my current obsession, navy blue.
On the table, I'm bringing in navy from the walls and the Moroccan rug with these blue plates, layered with navy napkins underneath them. To add some fanciness, I chose gold flatware. These have the perfect weight and feels so good in your hands. I like to include champagne and wine glasses because we'll indubitably start off celebrating with bubbles, then end the night with either sauvignon blanc or malbec. The shape and feel of these glasses by Iittala are elegant without being too fragile and delicate to use.
Bring in a hint of fall/winter and the holiday season by dressing the table with botanicals, like boxwoods, eucalyptus, protea and anjou pears. It's festive without being too literal. I also have a thing with cheese boards. Here, I picked out six types of cheeses ranging from hard to mild and I paired it with small nibbles like olives and pickled okra, banana chips in marble bowls and blueberries in a hexagon dish. And don't forget to weave in some tapered candles into your tablescape!
For the sideboard, I picked out two geometric vases by Shiraleah to keep it fun and stylish. I was surprised how big they were when they arrived. Such a good price for their size! I hung up African geometric baskets to add some texture and an earthy vibe. It's the holidays so bust out wine decanters. Gotta get a little fancy and let the wine breathe, you know?! Ha. And there you have it! Happy holidays everyone!
