A Modern Elevated Holiday with AllModern
Sponsored by AllModern
You know I’m a maximalist at heart, but when it comes to holiday decor, I’m actually more on the minimalist side. But that doesn’t mean it’s not bold or festive! Since the holidays are just around the corner, I’m partnering with AllModern to show you how to put a modern spin on holiday decorating traditions.
The Power of Plants
In lieu of a Christmas tree this year, I’m using a live tree, like an Audrey Ficus. Feel free to use whatever plant or tree that can hold up ornaments. It’s simple yet still festive. These red glass ornaments are very light so it doesn’t make the branches sag. And when I say plants, I’m not just talking about real ones, I’m all about artificial ones, too. I also love hanging faux garlands around modern decor pieces like mirrors and artworks, or even your window shades. A simple faux wreath can also do the trick. Don’t forget that florals in deep reds and burgundy can also make it that much more festive and fancy.
Let Colors Tell The Story
Decorating for the holidays doesn’t necessarily mean you need candy canes, a bright red bow, Christmas trees, or even ornaments. It could be as simple as just bringing holiday colors into a space. We know that green and red are popular holiday colors, so have fun bringing in all shades of greens and reds, like a terracotta red lamp, sage green rug, large green artworks, burgundy vase, or an olive green accent chair. That way you can still keep it modern and elevated without having a room be over the top.
Create a Bar-tini
I love this bar cabinet. The only time I set up a bar situation is really when I have friends over during the holidays. It screams celebration! And I love this one in particular because it has tall legs. That’s important for me because my air vents are just right above the baseboards so I’m always searching for pieces that aren’t obstructing it. I love its clean lines, mix of walnut and black finish. My go-to holiday cocktail is a delicious pomegranate martini served in a beautiful coupe glass. Coupe glasses are more elegant than the traditional ones.
Mix Old with New
I love balancing old and new finds. If you have a new sectional or lounge chair, then I recommend hunting for a vintage accent table to go with it. You can also layer in vintage pillows on sofas and chairs. Try hanging old necklaces on your lamps as well. Or frame a vintage scarf that was passed down to you to give it a new life. Remember that your space should reflect you so display and honor those old pieces you’ve been collecting.
Make it Twinkle and Sparkle
Nothing says holidays like a little sparkle or a twinkle from a candle. These geometric candle holders are versatile all year round. Find a taper candle in any holiday color and you’re all set to host a warm and intimate gathering with friends and family.
Hopefully this will help make your holidays a little more simple and modern but still very fun and festive. For more, you can check out all my holiday faves from AllModern!
