Create Your Colorful Fall Story
This fall, let’s pumpkin spice up our living rooms and build our color confidence by layering bold, rich colors. Since summer is coming to an end, we gotta get back into the swing of things so there’s no better time to make your home a vibrant sanctuary to foster creativity and recharge.
First, I like to figure out a dominant color or colors for a room. And then it’s all about balancing warm and cool tones. I drew inspiration from art deco Chinese rugs. They have unique color combinations that I sometimes would never think of using. Try to find inspiration from objects, places, or even from your fondest memories of color. It’s a great way to make your home personal. Whether it’s the color of your favorite ice cream flavor or a special place you visited. Bring those colorful stories into your space.
For this living room, I wanted the dominant colors to have a mix of warm colors like red and rust, so I painted the walls a deep red color (Farrow & Ball Eating Room Red) and placed a russ sectional against it. When you walk into this room, you’re greeted by this bold impact. Then I introduced cool accent tones by painting the ceiling a teal color for an unexpected contrast, and a neutral graphic green rug to keep it modern.
You can also start small by introducing this green abstract artwork and teal ceramic vase. And to finish the room, sprinkle in some black accents to ground the space. I used this black round coffee table and black table lamp. I hung a burgundy necklace I found from in Bangkok to give it some personality.
